Trees for Houston’s new office building at 2001 W. 34th St. will somewhat fittingly be situated in Garden Oaks between the Shepherd Forest and Shady Acres areas. The new headquarters will replace Trees for Houston’s existing offices at 104 N. Greenwood St.

Healthcare Office Space Transformation
The idea of a safe space took on a new meaning for Houston’s Legacy Community Health. The organization’s clinics have been a judgment-free zone for LGBTQA+ patients since 1978. Then the pandemic struck, just as the healthcare company began consolidating its administrative offices from three locales to one. Move-in was July 2021. Legacy and its partner, Kirksey Architecture, kept true to their original vision for the $1.4 million transformation of the 67,500-square-foot, three-floor headquarters.

Located in Prairie View, Texas this new program is a state-of-art facility that serves its students with the latest technology. As one of the seven HBUC (Historic Black Colleges and Universities) with an accredited architecture program, this new innovative maker space houses a variety of high-tech equipment allowing architectural students to build, develop, and test new ideas.

KISD trustees approve revised design for Katy Elementary
After the board of trustees for Katy ISD unanimously approved the redesign of Katy Elementary School, located at 5726 George Bush Drive, Katy, on Nov. 15, updated changes to the plan were approved Dec. 13. Kirksey Architecture brought the revised rendering of the school, which features a more traditional brick exterior, to the meeting, where trustees unanimously approved the new design.

Rice University's Sid Richardson Residential College by Barkow Leibinger
The firm’s 148,000-square-foot Sid Richardson residential college, completed earlier this year, is a trio of linked structures (two, five, and 12 stories) that sits alongside the building it was commissioned to replace, a 14-story Brutalist tower designed by the Houston firm Neuhaus & Taylor, which opened in 1971.
