Community Market Director

Kirksey Architecture is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and relationship-driven Community Market Director to join our Houston office to guide and grow Community sector across Texas and beyond. This sector includes Religious, Recreation, Cultural/Civic, and Non-Profit projects, requiring a leader who understands the unique drivers, stakeholders, and impact of these project types. This leadership role is responsible for driving sector strategy, business development, client relationships, and team growth while ensuring alignment between market goals and project delivery.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Community Market Director is responsible for the overall growth and success of Kirksey’s Community sector, encompassing Religious, Recreation, Cultural/Civic, and Non-Profit projects. This role leads strategic planning, business development, and client engagement efforts while supporting project teams and ensuring operational alignment with firm goals.

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Lead overall market strategy for the Community sector, including defining target clients and strengthening expertise in Religious, Recreation, Cultural/Civic, and Non-Profit projects.

· Establish and track key performance indicators, including win rates, pursuits led, sector revenue growth, and new client relationships established annually.

· Set annual sector sales goals and manage associated business development budgets and expenses. 

· Lead local project pursuits and contribute to major pursuits across Texas and other markets, playing a direct role in securing significant project wins. 

· Develop and maintain strategic relationships with community-based organizations, institutional clients, and key stakeholders while supporting directors in expanding local connections 

· Provide leadership and guidance to Community Directors, fostering alignment and collaboration across teams.

· Identify and recruit key talent to strengthen sector expertise, leading hiring efforts aligned with growth strategy, retention, and internal advancement. 

· Champion mentorship, professional development, and succession planning to support the next generation of firm leadership. 

· Contribute to broader firm growth initiatives and strategic planning efforts. 

· Maintain high-level involvement in select projects to support market presence, client relationships, and overall project quality. 

· Ensure alignment between project delivery and Community sector goals and client expectations. 

· Serve as Principal-in-Charge on select projects, including oversight of contract administration and client engagement. 

  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Proven experience in a senior leadership role within architecture 

· Demonstrated success in business development and winning large-scale projects 

· Strong network and established client relationships within the Community market 

· Experience leading teams, mentoring staff, and driving organizational growth 

· Strategic thinker with the ability to align market opportunities with firm capabilities 

· Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills 

  

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES

· Licensed Architect or equivalent professional credential 

· Experience leading the community market sector

· Experience serving in a Principal-in-Charge or similar leadership role
